Integrated Policing
Strategies
Program Description
Integrated Policing Strategies
- a localized version of CompStat. This operational system focuses on
real-time response to crime and disorder problems and pushes this
responsibility to the patrol sergeant level. Patrol sergeants constantly
assess their districts and look for existing or innovative strategies to
solve problems. These strategies can include directed patrol, saturation
patrol, directed traffic enforcement, problem-oriented policing and crime
prevention.
Associated Terms
District - A geographic area
of responsibility both for accountability and patrol assignment.
Report Sector - A geographic
area that establishes four distinct areas of crime reporting. These areas
are block style to aid in easier analysis and dissemination of data to
outside organizations and/or individuals.
Beat - A smaller geographic area within a district. Beats would be
used where multiple officers are assigned to details within a given
district. However, school resource officers are responsible for a beat
(their respective schools).
