Below are a few of the most frequently asked questions about our Citizens Police Academy.  If you have others, feel free to contact our class coordinator at the e-mail addresses listed below.

Who can participate in the program?  CPA classes are open to people who reside or work in the corporate city limits of Saginaw.  Currently, applicants must be at least 18 years old on the date the class begins.  If there is sufficient interest, we may offer special classes for specific groups (seniors, children under 18, etc.) at a later date.

How much does it cost to attend the class?  There is no cost to the Recruit to attend the CPA.  There are, generally, dues associated with a CPA Alumni group, should one be formed (participation in the any alumni group is voluntary).

What's in it for me?  You will gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the Saginaw Police Department.  You also get to meet a few of your neighbors, and learn how to participate in great crime prevention programs in our community.  Participants also receive a swell shirt, just for attending!

What's in it for the police department?  More than we could ever list on one web page.  As a public service entity, we are always looking for inroads to our community.  This is another effective tool to get to know you better!

Is there life after the CPA?  Sure!  We hope that our classes will lead to an active, healthy CPA Alumni group.  Similar citizen groups in other cities spend a lot of time with their police department helping out in a variety of ways.

Will I be "Tased"?  No, though TASERs may be demonstrated, class members will not be Tased.
